All pregnancy related 2D, 3D and 4D Ultrasound scans performed at BMC are non-diagnostic scans, however you can choose a wide range of diagnostic pregnancy scans available in our clinic to suit your requirement. We are proud to assure you that we are CQC approved “Medical centre” not a 4D baby scan studio, all our pregnancy ultrasound scan services are lead by Consultant Gynaecologists/Obstetricians, hence your unborn baby’s health is assured and we presume this is a prime concern of every parent of unborn child.

Gender of the baby can be seen from 14 weeks but the rate of accuracy will be reduced, hence we recommend 15 weeks and 5days onwards which would be 99% accurate.

This is a routine growth scan to determine the normal well being of your baby in the womb.

Includes:

  • Growth measurements ( BPD, HC, AC, FL).
  • Amniotic fluid volume index.
  • Estimated Fetal Weight.
  • Presentation scan.
  • Fetal movements.
  • Sex Determination ( If requested).
  • CD-ROM of at least 10 images.
  • Free 4D preview (provided your baby in favourable position).
  • 15 minutes appointment (scanning time up to 10min).

This is a comprehensive growth scan to study or establish the well being of the fetus/baby in the womb. one or more scans may be required at various stages of your pregnancy due to maternal and fetal clinical condition (increased blood pressure, diabetes/gestational diabetes, kidney problems, eclampsia, preeclampsia, multiple pregnancies twins/triplets/quadruples, fetal growth restriction, or previous history of high risk pregnancy).

This type of scan helps your obstetrician to make decision on further management.

  • Dopplers ( Blood flow study), (Uterine A, Umbelical A & MCA).

This type of scan is useful in confirmation of the pregnancy within the womb and establish the viability (heart beat confirmation).

If you have pain with or without bleeding, previous history of missed miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies please book an appointment immediately, Gynaecologists appointments are also available immediately.

Transvaginal scan (TVS) is highly recommended in complicated early pregnancy scanning. We will discuss with you in detail based on the ultrasound findings on the day or time of your appointment if required.

This type of scan is useful in the confirmation of the pregnancy, location and the viability. Not all patients required transvaginal scan (TVS), however based on the ultrasound scan findings on the day or time of your appointment we will discuss with you in detail if required.

This type of scan is also called booking scan or first pregnacy scan.

This type of scan is also known as Down’s syndrome test.

This type of scan is performed only by a specialist who hold the registration with Fetal Medicine Foundation (UK).

The accurate fluid level (Nuchal Translucency) in the back of the baby’s neck is measured on ultrasound scan.

The blood test is conducted from the mother which contains two harmones produced by the placenta, by the combination of ultrasound scan findings and maternal blood test the detection rate for the Down’s syndrome can be achieved nearly 95% with 2.5% of false positive rate.

This is a Non Invasive prenatal Test.

This type of scan is also called morphology scan, 20 week scan or detailed anatomy scan. Detail study of the head, face, chest, heart, abdomen, stomach, kidneys, bladder, spine and both limbs are performed ( Please note: Ultrasound scan examination alone cannot detect all anomalies)

This type of scan is to identify the presenting part of the baby/foetus which will help your obstetrician to plan the management of delivery.

  • 15 min appointment (scanning time up to 10 min)

This type of scan is to assess the cervical length which helps your obstetrician to manage your pregnancy complications related to cervix. Multiple scans may be needed at various stages of your pregnancy to monitor the changes in the length. The accuracy of the cervical length is measured on transvaginal scan (TVS). We will discuss with you in detail on the day or time of your appointment if required.

This type of scan is to assess the placenta size, shape and location which helps your obstetrician to manage your pregnancy complication related to placenta. Multiple scans may be needed at various stages of your pregnancy to monitor the location and position. Some patients may required transvaginal scan (TVS), we will discuss with you in detail on the day or time of your appointment if required.

You will be scanned by one of our below said staff. Highly qualified and experienced foreign Doctors who have gone under extensive training in the NHS (Radiology department) and hold “Post Graduate certificate/Diploma/Msc in clinical ultrasound” qualification from the UK university. A qualified nurses who have gone under exten sive training in the NHS (Women’s health) and hold “Post Graduate certificate/Diploma/Msc in clinical ultrasound” qualification from the UK university. A qualified radiographers who have gone under extensive training in the NHS (Women’s health) and hold “Post Graduate certificate/Diploma/Msc in clinical ultrasound” qualification from the UK university. All above said staff are working in the NHS (min 7 years of experience ) with the designation of “Advanced ultrasound practitioners” who hold relevant professional registration and indemnity insurance.
The Ultrasound scan uses sound waves not X-rays, hence no hramful. There is no evidence that ultrasound has produced any harm to patients in the four decades that it has been in use. (BMUS)
Upon arrival at one of our clinic you will be handed a consent form, after having thoroughly read please sign and hand it back to receptionist . Remaining Payments are collected prior to the scan. You will be scanned for the procedure you have requested and report of the examination is generated and handed to you to consult your clinician, a copy of report will be sent to your GP or clinician.
We will ask you to go for a tea/coffee and we will repeat scan again after short interval. If your baby is still not in favourable position then we recommend you to rebook.
You need to be on full bladder until 18 weeks scan, then after partially filled bladder will do.
